Michael Jackson fans in various countries around the world were asked to vote for there favourite Michael Jackson songs and those tracks with the most votes were to be included on this greatest hits album to commemorate Michael Jackson's 50th birthday, August 29th 2008.

Fans were presented with a list of songs, ranging from 50 in the UK to over 100 in other countries from which to pick there favourite's.

Once votes were counted, each country then issued its own version of the album. The UK version version featured 17 tracks, but many of the albums from other countries featured alot more with some being double cd albums with up to 40 tracks as in the case of the Belgian release.

In France a 3 cd deluxe box set was issued. The UK also issued a deluxe box set edition featuring "Rarities and Classic 12's". Germany and Switzerland were issued the same release.

This album was not released in the US.
